Serve Our World

Serving Opportunities

Kenya

January 7-17, 2017

Mission: Silas and Rahab Waweru have been assigned the task of supervising Village Church Planting in Kenya. They are also involved in theological training of indigenous national leaders and empowering local communities through compassionate ministries.  They also founded Providence Training Center, a school for marginalized pastors, and later co-founded Care to Learn International, a not-for-profit organization to support pastoral training and community outreach.

We are thrilled to partner with Silas and Rahab as we work together to spread the Gospel through various ministry opportunities. This will be an incredible trip full of different ministry activities every day that will communicate how much the Lord loves all of His children. The trip will culminate with a safari where we get to sleep outside with the ‘big cats’.

    Haiti

    March 18-25, 2017

Mission: Nehemiah Vision Ministries is committed to seeing Haitians move from darkness to light; from hopelessness to eternal life. Their vision is to see Haitians living productive lives and rebuilding Haiti. A vital part of this vision is Short Term Mission Teams. Teams are helping build toward this vision through their four pillars of Leadership Development, Education, Healthcare, and Economic Empowerment. Supporting all of the pillars, and ultimately the vision, is a foundation of Spiritual Development.

The activities that our team from Mount Pleasant will undertake will specifically support the mission of Healthcare. Our team will focus on medical care for those living in the outer impoverished villages and tent cities.

      March 25 - April 1, 2017

Mission: Casas por Cristo relies on the labor and resources of full time staff missionaries, a board of over 100 pastors and community leaders from Mexico, Guatemala and Dominican Republic, and nearly 7,000 annual volunteers from across North America. Through these cross-cultural partnerships, volunteer teams are presented with an amazing opportunity to build a home for a family in need.

Come join us and play your part in showing Gods love and faithfulness to a family in need. During this one-week experience you will transform an otherwise empty lot into a safe and secure home – complete with cement foundation, electricity, windows and doors. As a result of this experience, each family receives a tangible symbol of the faithfulness and unconditional love of Jesus Christ. As a volunteer, you will gain perspective on the extreme poverty that exists in our world. You will also be blessed by this experience and see how you have changed the world for this family. As a result, these families better understand God’s plan for their lives and His deep desire to take care of their needs.

Mission: Big Creek Missions is a Christian Ministry Center in Bear Branch, Kentucky, in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains. They work to connect churches and volunteer groups from across the country with needs that exist in their county and neighboring counties. Big Creek assesses the needs of the community, and then find ways to serve the community around them. Among their many ministries, they offer free home repairs (for both major and minor projects), community programs, children’s programs (including tutoring, day camps clothing and hygiene kits), food distribution, and teen outreach.

This march, Mount Pleasant will be joining Big Creek Missions as they reach out and serve those in their community. We will be given multiple ways to serve according to the needs of the community.

This trip is open to all ages, elementary age and older. This is a wonderful trip to take with the family or with a group of friends over spring break!

          June 2-11, 2017

Mission: PROeM is a non-profit Polish Christian mission working for the benefit of young people. The headquarters is in Warsaw with daily operations in the Christian Youth Center in Zakosciele. PROeM Ministries has existed in Poland since 1990, and is based on the teaching of the Bible and Christian ethics, while working together with Polish churches as well as churches from other countries. PROeM has organized summer and winter camps for children and youth from differing social classes and churches for over 18 years. PROeM promotes recreation and relaxation that joins sports and games, along with Biblical teaching and spiritual growth.

This summer, Mount Pleasant is privileged to partner with PROeM as together we welcome 120 kids from Eastern Ukraine. These children are referred to as “warzone kids” and they range in age from 7-12. They have lived in terrible ongoing crisis. While at camp they will experience the simple pleasures of being outdoors, having cookouts, hanging out by the bonfire making s’mores, laughing, joking and just having a good time. What an opportunity we have to be Christ to those who have yet to know who He is. We will also be sending a team to help PROeM with community outreach, service projects and visiting local schools.

            June 29 - July 6, 2017

Mission: Power Soccer is the first and only competitive team sport internationally organized and played by people with various severe disabilities who must use power wheelchairs. The game is played on a basketball court and is similar to the nonstop action seen in a typical soccer game. One of the main benefits of Power Soccer is that it provides inspiration to those with severe disabilities by making the world’s most popular sport accessible to everyone regardless of disability, gender, or age. It also encourages healthy competition, demonstrates independence, builds self-confidence, teaches character, and breaks down the barriers for others to follow nationally and internationally, proving that dreams can become reality!

MPCC is excited to partner with Team USA as they host the World Cup in Kissimmee, FL. Our team will assist by making & distributing athlete participant bags, participate in overall facility setup, greet the International teams as they arrive, and serve as all around team assistants. This trip would be a great family trip, with a minimum suggested age of 12 years old. We will be working June 30 thru July 3, going to Cocoa Beach on July 4, and finishing the trip by serving the morning of July 5.

              July 2-8, 2017

Mission: Set on more than 1,000 acres in the foothills of the Ozark Mountains in rural Northeastern Oklahoma, Cookson Hills provides a rustic and relaxing retreat for children requiring out-of-home care. Since its beginning, Cookson Hills has sought to serve the church by actively placing children and working with families associated with partnering local-church ministries. Children are also placed through state agencies, individual referrals, and voluntary family placements. Family units are composed of a married couple, their children, and placed children.

Their vision is to restore children and families in crisis to a life-changing relationship with Christ. Cookson Hills exists to serve their ministry partners by providing Christ-centered services to children and families in crisis.

Mount Pleasant will be working with Cookson Hills to complete different projects around their property. These projects can range from technical projects such as electrical wiring or computer networking to basic projects like painting, cleaning, or organizing and everything in between. Please consider joining us this summer in Oklahoma.

Mission: Common Ground Church is people “sharing the love of Christ” to everyone. CGC believes everyone should experience the love of God, that people should have the basic needs of their life provided for, and that the local church is here to help with that. Their zip code, 33603, has the projected demographics for America in the next 20 to 30 years. As a community, they are predominantly Latino, then African American, and then finally Caucasian. CGC is a ministry to every tribe, tongue, and nation in Tampa Bay. They wrestle with urban issues such as diversity, homelessness, poverty, and education.

MPCC will be partnering with Common Ground Church in two very important capacities; first, we will work alongside CGC and their local partnering groups to restore homes, paint disadvantaged schools and also work on minor construction projects; secondly, we will have some opportunities for servant evangelism and acts of kindness projects. This may include partnering with local schools to tutor students, working with partners in neighborhoods to serve through backyard VBS, and connecting with local parks and recreation groups through sports and arts camps. This trip would be a great family trip, with a minimum suggested age of 12 years old.
